Jef De Coster (°2001, woont en werkt in Antwerpen)

Hij studeerde in 2024 af met een Master Vrije Kunsten aan KASK, Gent.
Zijn masterproject bestond uit een reeks sculpturale composities in felle kleuren, gemaakt van staal, plastic en hout. Deze sculpturen werden getoond op een scenografie die hij ontwierp voor een archieftentoonstelling bij CONVENT (Gent).

De link tussen sculpturaal beeldend werk, scenografische ingrepen en archivering is erg belangrijk in zijn praktijk. De werken bestaan vaak uit verzamelingen of reeksen, die door hun fysieke aanwezigheid een ruimtelijke impact hebben.

Ze bevatten een onderzoek naar de balans tussen objectiviteit (mathematische perfectie) en subjectiviteit (menselijke subjectiviteit). Die balans vormt de kern van het werk en is de aanleiding voor nieuw onderzoek.



Jef De Coster (b. 2001, lives and works in Antwerp) 

He graduated in 2024 with a Master in Fine Arts from KASK, Ghent.
His master project consisted of a series of sculptural compositions in bright colours, made from steel, plastic, and wood. These sculptures were presented within a scenography he designed for an archive exhibition at CONVENT (Ghent).

The connection between sculptural work, scenographic interventions, and archiving plays an important role in his practice. His works often take the form of collections or series, whose physical presence creates a spatial impact.

They explore the balance between objectivity (mathematical perfection) and subjectivity (human subjectivity). This balance lies at the core of the work and serves as a starting point for further research.
